At the monthly meeting held on this date, the Fire Chief announced several Department officer promotions. A panel of ranking officers conducts a series of record reviews, interviews, and deliberations as necessary to evaluate candidates for line-officer positions within the Department.
Rich Bassett has been promoted from the Rescue Captain position to the rank of Assistant Chief. Rich has served with the Department for 10 years in various positions and brings to the table great experience in emergency management, also serving as the Township's Emergency Management Coordinator. In his new position, Rich will oversee personnel matters and our certified medical Quick Response Service.
Lt. Dan Dawson was also promoted this evening to the position of Rescue Captain. Dan has been serving with the Department since 2001 and is certified in a variety of rescue courses, well qualifying him for the position. The Rescue Captain provides direction on Department procedures related to rescue operations and is responsible for the rescue equipment.
Several new Lieutenant positions remained vacant after the above promotions. Department Lieutenants oversee one of the Department's four duty squads and are assigned an additional focus area of responsibility.
Firefighter Jason Janis, a 12 year veteran of the Department, has been awarded the position of Lieutenant. Jason has a long list of medical and fire service training courses to assist in his duties of crew leadership. Lt. Janis will focus on personal protective equipment as the Department's new Quartermaster.
Darrin Dobrosky has been serving with our Department for over five years, and has over a decade of prior fire-service experience. Darrin's proven management skills and service history will be an asset to the Department in his appointment to the rank of Lieutenant. Darrin will oversee SCBA/air systems as his focus area.
Adam Maisel has been a firefighter with our Department since 2003, and has been serving as the Department's training coordinator. With prior fire, rescue, and emergency management training through his home-town station, Adam brings forth a wealth of knowledge to the Department. In his new position as Lieutenant, Adam will continue to focus on Department training activities.
